Mentors can take us to the next level!

If you want to be the best at something then there are some fundamental principles you cannot ignore. We can know a lot about investing in real estate, but what about what you don’t know? In other words, you don’t know what you don’t know.

It’s important to stay abreast of what is going on in the industry. Also staying in tune with what is happening in the areas that you are investing in will serve you well.

Often times we see investors start down the investment road alone with just a desire. Desire is great, but you need to have a plan. Of course, seeking out great education and not getting sucked into spending your time in hype will keep you on the road to opportunity.

On that road you can go faster if you can find a mentor. A mentor who can guide and keep you accountable to what you are trying to achieve. Mentors offer a deeper level of understanding and wisdom.

They know what you don’t know.

Now choosing a mentor can be arduous. Seek out those individuals who have achieved the success that you are seeking. Ask them questions about how they got started, how they made it to the next level and what they do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to achieve their goals.

A great mentor will allow you to shadow him or her and open doors that would take you a long time to reach. We always need to be setting goals and laying out a plan to reach those goals. Mentors are a wonderful sounding board for our strategy. You probably have different mentors already for different areas of your life. You may not realize that is what they are but think about it – who do you refer to when making important decisions?

Just as in real estate you don’t have to go it alone. On the contrary, there are others out there willing to assist … all you have to do is ask.
